National Film Awards 2023: ‘RRR’ Triumphs, ‘Rocketry’ Best Film; Allu Arjun Named Best Actor, Alia Bhatt & Kriti Sanon Shine as Best Actresses

At the 69th National Film Awards 2023, the winners were unveiled during a Thursday evening ceremony at Delhi’s National Media Centre. Shoojit Sircar’s movie “Sardar Udham,” which was released on Prime Video in 2021 and featured Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, secured the esteemed title of the best feature film in Hindi.

 Allu Arjun received the Best Actor award for his performance in the movie “Pushpa: The Rise,” while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actress award for their respective films “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and “Mimi.” The movie “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” was honored with the Best Feature Film award. Furthermore, “The Kashmir Files” was honored with the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration during the 69th National Film Awards.

Pankaj Tripathi was honored as the Best Supporting Actor for his remarkable portrayal in “Mimi” and he dedicated this award to his father, who had recently passed away.  Pallavi Joshi was recognized with the Best Supporting Actress accolade for her role in “The Kashmir Files” at the 69th National Film Awards.

“RRR” secured the National Award for Best Film in the category of wholesome entertainment, along with recognition for Action Direction, Choreography, and Special Effects. “Shershaah” received a Special Jury Award.

Gangubai’s Grand Triumph at the National Film Awards!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film “Gangubai Kathiawadi” emerged victorious at the National Film Awards 2023, securing five prestigious awards.

In a statement, Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his happiness and gratitude for the success of his film and the recognition it received at the national awards. He mentioned his happiness for all the winners, including his own film and others, and emphasized that the acknowledgment of good cinema by the government and a respected jury brings joy. Bhansali also highlighted the significance of cinema being celebrated across India, stating that it is a wonderful moment for everyone involved and expressing his own happiness.

According to the Directorate of Film Festivals under the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the National Film Awards are the foremost recognition, announced annually to commend exceptional filmmaking expertise throughout the nation. These awards are intended to inspire the creation of films that demonstrate aesthetic and technical brilliance, along with social significance.
